NUTRITION OFFICER (3 Vacant)
Our growing NGO is seeking to hire a Nutrition Officer who will be responsible for the high-quality delivery of nutrition behavior change activities and financial inclusion activities at field level. The activities will occur within a broader research trial, designed to measure the impact of the intervention on consumption of fish. This is a sub-activity within World Fish’s larger Fisheries Sector Support Program (FSSP II). Within that larger program, World Fish will aim to increase the sustainable capture of marine fish, while Mercy Corps, through this activity, will test out behavior change approaches to increase the consumption of that fish.
Based in Dili, Ainaro and Bobonaro. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture or Social Science or related field. To succeed in this role, you will be an effective communicator that can deliver participatory trainings and engage the community to take action on the FIN(Fish Improving Nutrition) Program has promoted behaviors, problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to get important work done. Specific experience working with Community and Beneficiaries.
Nutrition officer Responsibilities:
§ Support the Program Manager to deliver on the Social and Behavior Change strategy, providing feedback and ideas to strengthen approaches
§ Participate in Training of the Trainer events for VSLA and nutrition activities, implementing the activities in the field in accordance with facilitation guidance.
§ Socialize the activity with community members to ensure support and feedback from community
§ Lead all field activities namely SBC activities in the community, from mobilization through implementation of nutrition activities with VSLA and at community events.
§ Develop and implement weekly and monthly work plans in accordance with the program strategies, covering the SBC and assuring financial inclusion activities are accounted for.
§ Ensure that gender sensitive approaches and Code of Conduct requirements are adopted and implemented in all relevant activities.
§ Support Mercy Corps staff, Community Development Agents and other stakeholders by problem-solving and providing technical guidance with operational issues related to SBCC and financial inclusion.
§ Support the preparations, mobilization and analysis of surveys and special studies to measure outcomes and program impact related to health and nutrition and participate in data collection and reporting
Nutrition Officer Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture or Social Science or related field.
· Minimum two years’ experience with community-based health, SBC programing
· Experience working with VSLA groups is preferred
· Ability to work on your own initiative as well as a part of a team
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Fluency in written and verbal Tetum, English language skills a plus
· Ability to use MS Officer applications
· Willingness to travel frequently
· Must ride motorcycle
